Which databases are supported?

MySQL (and MariaDB), PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server and SQLite. Each script is written for the database you pick, with the right identifier quoting, column types and value formatting, so it runs as-is.

Does the script create the table for me?

Yes. By default the script starts with a CREATE TABLE statement whose columns are typed from the data itself - whole numbers become integer columns, decimals stay decimal, dates stay dates, and text columns are sized to the longest value found. Switch the option off to get only the INSERT statements.

What happens to an Excel workbook with several sheets?

Every sheet becomes its own table in the generated script, named after the sheet. A workbook of related sheets lands in your database as a set of tables you can join, rather than one flattened file.

Will the script overwrite or delete my existing table?

No. The generated script never contains DROP, TRUNCATE or DELETE statements. It only creates a table and inserts rows, so running it cannot destroy data you already have.

How do I run the generated SQL file?

Open it in your usual database client and execute it, or use the command line - for example "mysql mydb < import.sql", "psql -d mydb -f import.sql", or open it in SQL Server Management Studio and press Execute.

Can it convert old .xls files?

Yes. Both the modern .xlsx format and legacy binary .xls workbooks are supported, so files exported by older systems convert without you having to re-save them first.

Is my data kept private?

Files are encrypted in transit, source files are deleted right after conversion, and results are removed automatically within 24 hours. They are never shared.
